It is the tallest building in Vietnam. From 2018 to 2023, Landmark 81 held the title of the tallest building in Southeast Asia.

Groundwork at the Saigon River waterfront site began in late 2014. Construction took place from 2015 to 2018. The official opening of Landmark 81 occurred on July 27, 2018.
